If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably wondered what celebrities add to their shopping carts. Not the JAR brooch and the Louis XV chair but the hair spray and the electric toothbrush. We asked Rachel Bloom – who stars in the new Hulu series To restart and those of Netflix The School of Good and Evil – about the vibrator she uses at home and on the road, the travel pot she heard about from a stranger, and the incense that sums up her personality and that of her husband.
I live with a buzzer, and these are game-changing for marriage. They completely block snoring in a way that every time I remove my sleep buds, I’m like, Holy shit. Is that what’s happening next to me? I also did this concert in Boston, and in hotels, they block all sounds. They blow your ears with white noise at a safe level, and you can set a alarm. These also give me a break from listening to our baby monitor. My husband and I turn off who listens every night instead we both have to be aware. He listens on nights I have my sleep buds, then some nights he sleeps in another room and I’ll be on duty. So it’s great for our sleep hygiene and our marriage.
I saw an Instagram ad for the ReMarkable Tablet a year ago and bought a hook, line and sinker. It’s like a To light up except larger, and you can write on it with a stylus. You can download and take notes on any PDF, then you can download that PDF with your notes on it. Additionally, you can take notes on a notepad and then it will transcribe them into written text. I haven’t printed scripts in a year because of this tablet — I save so much paper. Every time I’m on set, there’s an actor who says to me, “Hey, what’s that?” I think Judy Greer bought one because I kept saying how much I loved it on the set of To restart.
I try to watch almost all drag race iteration, including international iterations, which is why I love my WOW Presents Plus subscription. International drag race that’s how I calm myself down at this point. I just started the fourth season of Drag Race United Kingdomand you must really love British drag because these queens are so talented, especially when it comes to musical theatre. They do live singing challenges, which they don’t really do here.
I like to watch drag race when I drive my training bike and pedal to the rhythm of the different songs. But because I’m watching it on my iPhone, it’s a little harder to read the series’ non-English subtitles, so I’m leaning towards Australia, the UK and Canada.
Blue light blocking glasses are so game changing. I have them everywhere in my house. My husband bought me some fancy Warby Parker pairs, but I really like this line drag race Jackie Cox turned them off because they look like his glasses, but you can insert blue light glasses. I had LASIK a few years ago which really helped me waking up early in the morning at 5am to do face makeup which can be very uncomfortable with contacts. Yet, I discovered that I lacked glasses, and these brought me back to this world.
First, they open at the top so they won’t crush your child’s big head when putting on their jammies. In addition, they are very comfortable. They come in this super soft modal instead of cotton, so that’s all my daughter wants to wear. She calls them “cool pajamas,” and they’re the only pajamas we buy. They’re especially great for LA where it’s so hot all the time simply because it gives it some breathability.
We originally had a trip jar for my daughter, which was great, but sometimes you end up with a pot full of your kid’s feces. I was in a restaurant and a mom saw me with my travel potty and said, “Hey, just so you know, they make these collapsible potty seats with suction cups that turn any potty toilet for children”, so I bought one. . I started bringing it with us when we were out, and now she even likes to use it around the house. She’s always been more interested in going to the big bathroom anyway, and now it’s even easier.
The way my body is located, like 70% of women, I can only reach orgasm by direct stimulation of my clitoris. The NEA is not only good for solo use, but it is also very good for partner stuff. I think some men are weirdly threatened by sex toys in the bedroom for some reason, and I think it’s because men aren’t educated about women’s bodies. And women are not educated about their own bodies. We’re told that if we don’t just come from penetration, there’s something wrong with us. I remember I was talking to girls and they were like, “Are you sure it’s because you’re not relaxing? Or are you not really in love? No, in fact, all female orgasms come from the clitoris. If you come from penetration, it’s simply because of how far your clitoral nerves extend into your vagina.
Insurance covers Viagra. Women are entitled to orgasm parity, and this is by far the best vibrator. It’s easy to pack. It is easy to travel with. It is easy to load and easy to clean. It’s waterproof. I like.
It’s one of the candler things I buy, but it’s worth the price. Smells like you’re in Big Sur. I always like to have incense around the house, especially now that I have a child. It really cools everything down and makes it feel like you’re in front of a campfire in Joshua tree. My husband and I are usually a big national park, campfire people – like, it’s our personality – so it kind of looks like us.
I found that tea because my parents spend a lot of time at Barnes & Noble, and during the holidays they have Harney & Sons gift sets. There was one with peppermint tea that sounded really good, so I bought that, and then my husband started buying their tangy cinnamon flavor, and we were like, “Wait, this company is awesome .” I went on a big shopping spree on their site one day, and it said Paris was their top seller, so I was like, “Sure,” and it was amazing.
I’m a big tea bitch. I dont drink coffee, really. I have a whole tea setup in my home office. Whenever I’m in Europe or Britain, I love that tea is part of their culture. It’s so civilized, which is probably a very colonial thing to say, but I love the ritual of pouring myself a cup of tea.
