Police charge man after Stawell’s bogus jail time

Detectives with the Northern Grampians Crime Investigation Unit have indicted a 38-year-old man who allegedly held a woman captive in Stawell early this morning.

Emergency services received a triple zero (000) call from a woman whispering that she had been held against her will in a truck traveling along the Western Highway towards Adelaide at around 4:40 am.

The woman was unable to provide her location, but police were able to locate her phone to determine she was in the Stawell area.

Police immediately began searching the Stawell area, quickly locating the truck at a truck stop on the Western Highway.

The driver, known to the 33-year-old woman, was taken into police custody.

Point Cook’s wife, who was in the truck, sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Investigators charged the Point Cook man with forcible confinement as well as possession of non-prescription Viagra and a small amount of methylamphetamine.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Horsham Magistrates’ Court on December 6.
