The National Drug Authority (NDA) has banned the import and sale of M-Magix coffee in the Ugandan market after it was discovered that it contained sildenafil citrate.

According to Dr Dennis Mwesigwa, director of inspection and law enforcement at the NDA, the decision was made after laboratory analysis of samples of M-Magix coffee taken from the market.

Mwesigwa said the sample results confirmed that the product (M-Magix Coffee, claimed to keep men strong) was adulterated with sildenafil citrate.

Sildenafil citrate is an erectile dysfunction drug that should be used under strict prescription by qualified medical personnel as it has serious side effects including extreme abdominal complications, respiratory and heart problems, kidney failure, and sometimes coma. or even death.

Mwesigwa disclosed that they had ordered the importer of M-Magix Coffee to stop importing and recall all supplied batches of this product with immediate effect.

He also ordered all pharmacies, drugstores, supermarkets and general merchandise stores to stop selling or stocking the product.

“The public is strongly warned against the use of ‘M-Magix Coffee’. We call on the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious products in the market that may be falsified to the NDA, ”Mwesigwa noted.
