A Minden man was arrested last week on multiple drug charges after police pulled him over for speeding and running a stop sign.

Lish Antonio Island, 51, was observed driving at 45mph in a 25mph zone and then driving through a stop sign as he turned onto Bayou Avenue. When the officer approached and asked for Island’s driver’s license, the officer noticed a can of beer and a cooler in the vehicle. Island was unable to provide a driver’s license.

“I saw a can of beer on the backseat floor as well as a cooler in the backseat,” the officer said in the arrest report. “I asked Island if he had been drinking, to which he replied that he had had three or four beers.”

The officer took the standardized field sobriety test on the island, and he failed all three test categories.

“While searching the Island person for weapons or contraband,” the report continues, “I found a round blue pill in the left front pocket of his shorts, later identified as Viagra.” While searching the vehicle, officers found other drugs.

“[An officer] located an orange prescription pill bottle in the center console. Inside the bottle were several small transparent bags containing different substances. One bag contained a clear crystalline substance suspected of being methamphetamine, another bag contained a square white cube suspected of being crack, and another bag contained many different colored pills suspected of being ecstasy. Also inside the container were two loose pills suspected of being ecstasy. All items inside the prescription pill bottle have been field tested and tested positive for methamphetamine, crack and ecstasy. All quantities of narcotics were in quantities suspected of being packaged for individual sales.

Ultimately, the police confiscated 3.3 grams of methamphetamine, 1 gram of crack, 33.5 ecstasy pills and 1 Viagra pill.

Island was arrested and charged with drunk driving, exceeding the speed limit, running a stop sign, driving under suspension, possession of Schedule I (ecstasy) with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule II (meth) with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule II (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute, and possession of a legendary drug (Viagra).
