Priapism is a medical emergency. Without treatment, there is a possibility of permanent erectile dysfunction (ED) and tissue death. Ouch!
There are two types of priapism. The other symptoms depend on the type:
- Ischemic priapism. This type usually presents with pain and an erect shaft with a soft glans, i.e. the head.
