Five things to note about the BenQ MOBIUZ EX3210U

High-end gaming monitors have moved towards high resolution and high refresh rate. We’re basically saying goodbye to Full HD 1080p and moving to 1440p and 4K resolution. What we have in our studio today is BenQ’s latest model for its MOBIUZ line – the EX3210U. After spending over two weeks with the monitor for gaming and work, here are the 5 things we think you should consider about this monitor.

4K 120Hz/144Hz with FreeSync Premium Pro

Five things to note about the BenQ MOBIUZ EX3210U 19Needless to say, the first highlight is the display panel itself. It’s a 32-inch IPS panel with 4K resolution that supports up to 120Hz or 144Hz. 4K is the upcoming mainstream resolution as our graphics processing power becomes more powerful than ever. Consumers are getting used to 4K displays and, more importantly, 4K is readily supported by most content streaming services as well as the PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X currently available.

If you’re gaming on the aforementioned consoles, simply plug in the HDMI 2.1 port and enjoy a smooth 4K 120Hz gaming experience. For PC Master Race, using DisplayPort 1.4 will maximize the panel’s 144Hz refresh rate. If you don’t understand how a high refresh rate monitor works, imagine 144Hz being the display refreshing content 144 times per second, while the typical monitor will only have a 60Hz refresh rate. final result ? Silky smooth animation and gameplay movements.

Pairing the high refresh rate display with FreeSync Premium Pro essentially eliminates the screen tearing effect to distract from the free gaming experience.

Designed with multiple devices in mind

In today’s digital age, it is quite common for us to own multiple devices for different purposes. Some might even own a few different game consoles to play exclusive titles. For example, a PS5 for Grand Turismo 7 and a Nintendo Switch for Pokemon. If you are that person, then the BenQ MOBIUZ EX3210U might be for you.

It’s not just because the monitor has multiple input sources, but the fact that BenQ has built-in features to go along with it.

The monitor comes with two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 port. What sets the monitor apart from the rest is its ability to assign a unique color profile and behavior to each individual input port. For example, if you connect the first HDMI 2.1 to a PS5, you can actually assign it as the HDR game mode, while assigning the HDR standard to your DisplayPort connected gaming PC. This will cause the monitor to recognize the input and automatically switch profiles.

HDR600 display and high color accuracy

Speaking of HDR, the MOBIUZ EX3210U also has Display HDR600 certification. It should work well with consoles and Windows 11 if the game developer includes a proper HDR setting configuration. HDR or High Dynamic Range fundamentally improves overall viewing contrast by allowing the monitor to display very bright and very dark objects on the screen simultaneously without compromising image quality.

The monitor also features BenQ’s proprietary HDRi technology which includes a few different color presets for HDR.

Apart from gaming, this monitor is also suitable for creative works thanks to its high color accuracy panel. It has nearly 100% sRGB color coverage and 98% DCI-P3 coverage, making it a great choice for gamers who are also content creators.

BenQ Eye Care

Interestingly, although EX3210U is part of MOBIUZ gaming line instead of Eye-Care series, BenQ didn’t hesitate to include Eye-Care function in this monitor. The bottom frame houses the sensors needed to operate the BenQ Eye-Care feature. It is able to sense surrounding lighting and adjust panel illumination accordingly to maintain user visual comfort.

Brightness Intelligence plus combines both ambient light sensors and content analysis to determine the best display brightness and color temperature to reduce eye strain. This is an important feature considering that we spend most of our time staring at the screen daily whether it is for work or entertainment purposes.

Excellent built-in speakers

Apart from stunning visuals, audio also plays an important role when it comes to gameplay. You wouldn’t want to miss the enemy lurking in the bushes, would you?

While there are plenty of gaming monitors out there with speakers, none of them really stood out other than offering an audio solution that somehow works. The BenQ EX3210U is equipped with a 2.1 audio system. That’s right, it has a dedicated 5W subwoofer mounted on the back of the monitor to compensate for the missing bass. The end result is a speaker setup that works great on its own. You can also choose from preset audio equalizers according to your audio preferences. Frankly, this is a viable setup for those who want to keep their desk clutter-free.

Throughout the two weeks of testing, we really enjoyed every moment spent with the monitor. Although there are times when Microsoft Windows 11 has decided not to play well with HDR, most of the time it is due to the buggy DX12 package. For console gamers, the software is much more stable, reliable, and straightforward. Even though BenQ EX3210U is the flagship model which has a premium price of RM4868, BenQ has some other MOBIUZ series gaming monitors in multiple flavors including different screen sizes, resolution, refresh rate as well as a choice between flat or curved display.
