A partnership between the Coastal Health District and Effingham Health System will bring free COVID-19 testing to Springfield starting this Thursday, September 2. The drive-thru test site will be located at 459 Route 119 South, across from the west entrance to the hospital. Enter the hospital campus from First Street to access the testing site. The site will be open for specimen collection every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
The Georgia Department of Public Health has contracted with Mako Medical, a company based in North Carolina, to provide testing services at the site. Health insurance will be charged for insured persons, but insurance is not required and no one will have to pay any fees.
Pre-registration is highly recommended and will help the line move faster around the test site. You can start the pre-registration process online at gachd.org/covidtest. For assistance with planning, call the COVID-19 testing call center at 1-912-230-9744 Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
